Insurance

Alice currently accepts many Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Cigna PPO plans.  Depending on your insurance plan you may be eligible for between three and six in-home lactation consultations at no cost to you!  Type lactation consultant and your zip code into the Aetna Provider Finder and select your plan to confirm coverage for Aetna. Call or text Alice for more information on other insurance plans.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) you may be entitled to lactation services and a free breast pump if needed. Some insurance plans are grandfathered where benefits may not yet be available to you. Check with your insurance company’s benefit department to find out what services you are eligible for. If your insurance is not accepted payment is due up-front. A superbill is provided that you can submit to your insurance company if you wish for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement cannot be guaranteed, but insurance often covers a decent chunk of the fee. Sometimes follow up and persistence is necessary.

National Women's Law Center has some great information on how to what to say to help your insurance company cover consultations and pumps if they are resisting.
